HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii - U.S. Air Force pavements and equipment journeymen from the 647th Civil Engineer Squadron, load chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense equipment onto a forklift while setting up a standalone large shelter during exercise Toxic Pineapple at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, Aug. 29, 2022. CBRN agencies and subject matter experts from agencies across the U.S. Department of Defense collaborated to coordinate the setup of the SAL, which acts as a portable Integrated Collective Protective System against CBRN attacks. The ColPro enables service members to get into a sustainable environment where they can decontaminate, enter the SAL shelter, reconstitute themselves and their equipment, and then get out and back into the fight.
