U.S. and Israeli Collaboration at 20th Shoresh Meeting Promotes Advancement of CBRN Medical Countermeasure Development
October 20, 2022 — This past September, representatives from the U.S. Defense Department (DoD) participated in the 20th biennial Shoresh Military Medicine Conference in Rockville, Maryland. Shoresh, co-hosted by the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) and the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC), is a collaborative gathering of DoD and IDF medical personnel that covers medical, chemical, biological defense, and military medicine topics. “You all save lives,” said Dr. Brian Lein, the Defense Health Agency’s assistant director for healthcare administration. “The things we talked about four or six years ago are now saving American and Israeli lives, based on innovation first developed here.”... DOD Awards Follow-on Production Agreement for Rapid Opioid Countermeasure System Program Naloxone Autoinjectors
September 20, 2022 — JPM CBRN Medical awarded a follow-on Other Transaction Authority (OTA) for Production agreement to kaléo, Inc. The contract follows a previous OTA awarded to kaléo in 2019 to develop the 10mg NAI in collaboration with the JPM CBRN Medical and the Chemical and Biological Defense Program (CBDP). Under this follow-on OTA, awarded through the Army Contracting Command, kaléo will manufacture and deliver 10mg naloxone autoinjectors (NAI) as a residual capability to the DoD’s Special User Groups, as well as an emergency stockpile no later than September 2022. ... DOD Initiates Phase II Clinical Trial in Support of Vaccine Acceleration Program
September 12, 2022 — Dynavax, in collaboration with the JPM CBRN Medical, began a Phase II clinical trial using the JPM CBRN Medical’s Recombinant Plague (rF1V) vaccine, with Dynavax’s biological response modifier (BRM) cytosine phosphoguanine (CpG) 1018®, to help improve the vaccine’s onset of protection and efficacy level. This clinical trial will serve as a launching point to evaluate new vaccine enhancements that will help ensure vaccines are operationally relevant to the warfighter. DoD Awards Synthetic Human Antibody Prototype Agreement to Treat High-Priority Toxins and Pathogens
August 24, 2022 — JPM CBRN Medical awarded a prototype agreement through Army Contracting Command with GigaGen, Inc., a subsidiary of Grifols. This agreement will evaluate if GigaGen’s novel platform capabilities can rapidly create a fully-synthetic human antibody product to protect against botulinum neurotoxins (BoNT) A and B. The prototype agreement can support follow-on testing against other DoD-priority toxins and pathogens, as well as advanced development activities including manufacturing and clinical testing to demonstrate improved potency and military utility. ...
