Collaboration Leads to Capability: Enhanced Maritime Biological Detection System Increases Navy's Defense Against Biological Threats
Norfolk Naval Station - On 16 June, the Joint Program Executive Officer for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND) attended the fielding and demonstration of the Enhanced Maritime Biological Detection (EMBD) system on the USS Truxtun. In attendance for this fielding was HON Deborah Rosenblum, Assistant Secretary of Defense (ASD) for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense (ASD(NCB)), Mr. Ian Watson, DASD(CBD), Mr. Darryl Colvin, JPEO, and Ms. Nicole Kilgore, Deputy JPEO. Additionally, leaders from the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations - Anti-Terrorism Force Protection-CBRN Branch, Naval Sea Systems Command’s CBRN Division and Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Indian Head Division were in attendance for this special event.
