We Are JPEO
The Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND) manages our nation’s investments in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense equipment and medical countermeasures. As a component of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Chemical and Biological Defense Program, the JPEO-CBRND protects the entire Joint Force – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and First Responders – through the advanced development of CBRN defense capabilities that enable our Warfighters to fight and win in a CBRN-contested environment. The JPEO-CBRND leads, manages, and directs the acquisition, fielding and sustainment of CBRN sensors, protective equipment, medical countermeasures, information management systems, defense enabling biotechnologies, and specialized equipment for U.S. Special Forces. The organization also work closely with various government agencies that need CBRN defense equipment.
Headquartered in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Edgewood Area, MD, the JPEO-CBRND has offices across the United States, including Fort Detrick, Marine Corps Base Quantico, and San Diego. Three unique joint project management offices oversee the acquisition of CBRN defense equipment, enabling the achievement of the National Security Strategy and supporting the U.S. Armed Forces, with the help of three joint project lead offices.
